Online French Classes: Understanding Levels, Choosing a Course and Planning Your Learning

A useful language course begins with a clear learning objective. You may want to manage everyday conversations, communicate in a professional setting, prepare for an examination or introduce a child to French.

Understanding your starting point helps you choose a suitable course and judge progress through what you can actually do with the language.

AGIFL VILLE — Across Global Institute of Foreign Languages Ville — in collaboration with APEX Itinerary, offers 100% online French classes for adults, children, teenagers and professional groups. The programme highlights live online classes, certified trainers, flexible scheduling and the opportunity to learn from anywhere.

The updated Regular French monthly fees are ₦50,000 for Nigeria and £30 for the UK.

Understanding A1, A2, B1 and B2

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or CEFR, describes proficiency through communication abilities. Its levels help learners and trainers discuss objectives and assessment.

Level A practical learning focus
A1 Basic introductions and simple exchanges with support.
A2 Routine communication and short descriptions of familiar matters.
B1 Connected accounts and interaction on familiar subjects.
B2 More independent interaction, detailed explanation and discussion of viewpoints.

These are broad summaries. A learner’s listening, reading, speaking and writing may develop at different rates, so discuss your abilities and objectives when choosing a class.

1. Regular French: develop your general language ability

Regular French is offered across A1, A2, B1 and B2. This option provides a route for learners working on general communication, including understanding spoken language, reading appropriate texts and expressing ideas orally and in writing.

Choose an observable goal alongside your level. You might introduce yourself, write an enquiry, describe a recent experience or explain an opinion.

Regular French schedules

The Nigeria programme is listed for two classes per week, with scheduling referenced to West Africa Time (WAT). Contact our team for the available class times.

The published UK schedules, in GMT, are:

  • Batch 1: Saturday, 10:00–11:30, and Sunday, 15:00–16:30.
  • Batch 2: Tuesday and Thursday, 19:00–20:30.

Confirm the current batch availability and corresponding local time when registering.

2. Examination preparation: match your course to your objective

AGIFL lists preparation options for TCF, TEF and DELF, alongside IELTS support.

TCF and TEF assess French proficiency. DELF comprises French-language diplomas at A1, A2, B1 and B2. IELTS assesses English and should be considered separately from French-language preparation.

The examination and version you need depend on the requirements of the institution or organisation receiving your result. Discuss that requirement before selecting a preparation course.

Preparation can focus on understanding the relevant tasks, practising responses and using feedback to identify areas for improvement. Course enrolment and examination registration arrangements should both be clarified.

UK £170 £450

The Nigeria examination-preparation option is listed for three classes per week. Contact our team to confirm the schedule and plan for your chosen examination.

3. Private one-to-one classes: discuss individual learning priorities

A private format gives a learner an opportunity to discuss their specific objectives and the areas in which they need support.

For example, the learning goal might concern pronunciation, written communication, a presentation or confidence in conversation. Ask how the available private-class arrangement can support your objective.

Published private-class fees:

  • Nigeria: ₦7,000 per hour, or ₦55,000 per month for a plan of two hours per week.
  • UK: £25 per hour.

Confirm available lesson times and the appropriate plan when enquiring.

4. Duo classes: learn as a pair

The duo option is for two people. When choosing this format, discuss both learners’ levels and goals so the class arrangement can be considered appropriately.

Pair learning can include preparing questions, responding to one another and reviewing a shared task. The value of the format depends on active participation from both learners.

Published duo fees:

  • Nigeria: ₦90,000 per month in total, equivalent to ₦45,000 each; the published three-month package is ₦250,000.
  • UK: £35 per hour in total for the pair.

5. Corporate training: connect language study with workplace needs

A professional group should begin by identifying the communication situations it wants to address. These could involve introductions, enquiries, meetings, presentations or other relevant exchanges.

Discuss your staff’s current levels and intended uses of French with our team when enquiring about a suitable training arrangement.

The Nigeria corporate option covers groups of 3–10 staff. The UK listing includes a corporate option for NHS care workers.

Location Monthly fee per group Three-month fee
Nigeria ₦300,000 ₦800,000
UK £300 £800

6. Kids and teens: choose an age-appropriate learning option

The programme includes separate groups for children aged 6–11 and teenagers aged 12–17.

At a beginner’s level, useful goals may include introducing oneself, naming familiar things and understanding simple questions. As ability develops, learners can work towards describing interests, discussing familiar experiences and producing more connected language.

Ask about the class level, learning activities and support appropriate to your child’s needs.

Published Saturday schedules

  • Kids, ages 6–11: Saturday, 09:00–10:30.
  • Teens, ages 12–17: Saturday, 11:00–12:30.

Confirm the applicable time zone with our team when choosing a children’s or teens’ class.

Making online lessons part of a productive routine

Online interaction includes spoken exchanges and written communication. Participate in class, respond to others and practise asking for clarification when you need it.

Between lessons, complete a suitable reading, listening, speaking or writing task. Review feedback and use corrected language in a later activity.

Keep examples of your work so you can compare your performance over time. Progress becomes easier to discuss when you can point to something you understand or communicate more effectively.
